School at Work (SAW) Coach Job Description

SAW Coaches are vital to student success. They have many roles: facilitator, educator, cheerleader, and mentor to students. Coaches should be approachable, creative, and able to keep students motivated. For most facilities, SAW is as fulfilling to the coach as it is to the students.
Job Duties:
- Serves as project manager for entire SAW class.
- Oversees and facilitates SAW class each week.
- Works closely with internal SAW support to help students with career and learning planning.
- Keeps an attendance record and monitors completion of the online component.
Skills/Requirements:
- Computer proficiency
- Strong communication and facilitation skills
- Previous experience in education, recruiting, or HR
- Familiarity with healthcare organizations is preferred
Time:
- Student Recruiting and Testing: Approximately 8 hours per week will be needed for SAW student recruiting and assessment.
- Class Facilitation: The coaching position requires 4 hours per week: 2 hours of class time and 2 hours of preparation/follow-up. Class day/time varies by facility and is generally worked out in conversation with supervisors of the SAW students. (Note: Time estimate does not include travel time to and from hospital.)
Working Relationships . Coach will be supervised by the facility Human Resource Director. Will also work closely with the Career Advisor assigned to assist SAW students and with students' direct supervisors.
Support . A Client Relations Coordinator from SAW will be available for any technical support needed, and will be in contact with the coach throughout the course. |
