School at Work (SAW) is the premier career development system for entry-level workers in the healthcare industry. Its two pillar approach combines education with career planning. SAW’s blended-learning instructional model applies accelerated learning principles and delivers continuing education on-site at the employer location.
SAW has been put to work at over 400 hospitals nationwide since 2002. In 2010, Catalyst Learning Company introduced SAW 2.0; an enhanced version of SAW with stronger patient safety and satisfaction content, along with modules to help prepare employees for the personal responsibility of advancement. More information regarding SAW2.0 may be found at
here.
SAW students are employed in entry-level office, nursing dietary, housekeeping, and environmental services positions. The majority is female, 25-50 years of age, and possesses a high school diploma. They are loyal and want to “do better”, but lack confidence and need a career plan and additional education to advance within their organization. School at Work is a bridge program that prepares these employees for better-paying jobs and for entrance to local community colleges. |
